Thomas L Jeffries, M.D.
Dr. Jeffries was born in Durham and has lived most of his life in North Carolina. He graduated from Garner High School and Duke University with a B.S. in Psychology. He then had the privilege to spend a summer working in Europe and then went into the Peace Corps in Zaire where he lived "in paradise" for two years. Upon his return he continued his education and graduated from UNC-CH School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Practice through the University of Virginia in Lynchburg.
Dr. Jeffries returned to Raleigh and practiced at a community health center for two years. For eight years he worked as an Emergency Room physician. In 2000, Dr. Jeffries opened his private family medicine practice. During the next 5 years the practice grew and the office became the home for reasonable and caring healthcare in North Raleigh. He became a preceptor for UNC-CH's nursing school and mentors master nursing students at his practice. In addition, Dr Jeffries serves as the Medical Advisor for the medical assisting program at Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh.
Dr Jeffries is board certified in Family Medicine and Holistic Medicine. He has training and experience as a traditional allopathic physician but also in natural and unconventional medicine. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages and with many types of conditions. Dr. Jeffries especially enjoys teaching patients to become more focused and in control of their health.
Dr. Jeffries lives in North Raleigh with his wife, Glenda and their children. Also, his adult daughter lives in Raleigh with her husband and twin boys. He enjoys spending time with his family, his collies, and being outdoors hiking, observing nature, swimming, biking and trail running.
Jolena B. Allred, FNP
Jolena joined our practice in September of 2005. She is a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner with 10 years of experience in Family Medicine. She has a strong background in women's health, preventative medicine, pediatric health, and general primary family medicine.
Jolena received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from East Carolina University in Greeneville, NC and her Master of Science in Nursing from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. She served 6 years in the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps stationed in Washington, D.C. where she obtained the rank of Captain. She has nursing experience in cardiac and critical care prior to beginning her career as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
She is a member of the American Nurses Association, NC Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Nursing Organization. In addition, Jolena has been a preceptor for the UNC-CH's Nurse Practitioner program for over 7 years. She has a great love of educating and training other nurse practitioners.
Jolena lives in North Raleigh with her son, age 9 and daughter, age 7. She enjoys watching soccer, jogging and spending time at the YMCA.
